Eight Grade Social Studies Syllabus

2016-2017

Make this year in Social Studies a SUCCESSFUL one!

We welcome you to the wonderful world of eight grade. We hope this syllabus will assist you and your child toward a better understanding of our Social Studies class procedures and curriculum.

 

The students will focus on the following Power Concepts per domain:

Homework

Homework is a key component of the learning process. Homework is expected to be completed neatly and on time. Please encourage your student to complete all tasks. Students are also encouraged to study their social studies material on a nightly basis.

Social Studies Fair

Social Studies fair will provide a variety of educational experiences.  Students will take notes, write thesis statements, write a research paper and organize a bibliography.

Tests

Informal and formative assessment will be administered to monitor and plan a curriculum to meet the needs of students.

  A                          90  -  100   

  B                          80  -  89     

  C                           71  -  79 

  F                          Below 70

It is the student’s responsibility to check for his/her make-up work.  Students will have
